Duel Toys is a fun fanmade fighting game from Brazil that features dozens of characters from CAPCOM, SNK, Rare, and Midway classic fighters, redrawn in attractive cartoony style. Although the game’s AI is suspect and many game types woefully unbalanced (the “survival mode” for example is almost impossible for me to win), it is still a lot of fun to play and very nice to look at. The best thing about this game is that almost all the original characters’ moves have been faithfully translated to this version, including multiple special attacks that you can pull off by filling up and using the energy meter. The gameplay involves going around the town, challenging various NPCs to a duel. When you win, you get “duel points” that can be used to unlock new Duel Toys from the shop. You can adjust the gameplay Window size and save inside your room in the game at any time in the game, although it takes time to travel back from various locations in town. All in all, a nice little game that fighting fans will enjoy – just be warned of the high difficulty level and unbalanced gameplay (which hopefully will be corrected in future versions).
