Last and most graphically advanced game in Steve Moraff’s long-running series of dungeon crawl RPGs that began with 4-color Moraff’s Revenge. Game description at MobyGames sums it up nicely: “Dungeons of the Unforgiven is Moraff’s World/Moraff’s Revenge with a story. More dungeon crawling action and slaying of evil garbage cans/lesdidian warriors/toxic waste barrels/etc. Run about bashing in creatures, taking their worthless Greater American Dollars and trading them in for real money, and in turn buying weapons to slay more and more creatures until you reach the “bosses”, shadow creatures.”
Despite graphical improvements, Dungeons of the Unforgiven suffers from the same symptom as Mindcraft?s Magic Candle 3: a game that tries to do too much with little thought on user friendliness. The controls are overly complicated: you have to literally memorize dozens of keyboard commands, making the game enjoyable only for the most patient. Fortunately, the humorous creatures and descriptions that made earlier games cult classics abound, and they look much nicer in improved 3D corridor graphics. Overall, if you like the previous Moraff games, you will probably enjoy Dungeons of The Unforgiven, although Moraff’s World remains the best game in the series by far.
