Second and best in Steve Moraffs quirky RPG series, Moraffs World expands the kill-monsters-get-treasure premise of Moraffs Revenge by adding more sophisticated gameplay features, and many times larger gameworld. Description as MobyGames says it all: There are many dungeons and continents to explore in this classic. All the dungeons are randomly generated, though once the game is played for the first time the dungeons stay the same afterwords. There are over 40 different monsters with different attributes and weak points and 200 levels of each dungeon to play. The dungeons are explored in first person view, and you can travel over the surface of the earth in top down view as an X. (the effect used to display varying heights of terrain is interesting) There are also many items to collect, from holy hand grenades to your standard set of plate mail armor.
With a larger scope than Moraffs Revenge and better user interface than Dungeons of The Unforgiven, Moraffs World is the best RPG in this cult classic series. Recommended for any fan of Roguelike games who is looking for a light dungeon crawl with a cool sense of humor. Oh, and if you never find the holy hand grenade in the game, you aint seen nothing yet [EG]. Thumbs up!
Note: Although it doesn’t say so on Moraffware’s official website, all of the old Moraffware shareware games are still sold. Contact their sales dept. at the e-mail provided below for details.
